About the Correctional Facility
MCCF is operated by Montgomery County and led by a warden. The county says it securely houses individuals awaiting trial or serving sentences, and publishes information for families, visitation and inmate programs.
The facility also runs a DUI / weekend sentence program for certain sentenced people. People serving state prison sentences are generally held by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, not at MCCF.

Booking and Custody Verification
After an arrest, a person is first processed and taken before a judge for a preliminary arraignment. If they are not released, they are committed to MCCF. There is no public online roster for this facility, so families confirm custody by phone.
- 1Have the person's full legal name (with middle name) and date of birth ready.
- 2Call MCCF at 610-635-7100 and ask whether the person is currently held there.
- 3Ask whether bail has been set and whether any detainer or hold is listed.
- 4Write down the case or docket number if one is available.
Being booked does not mean bail has been set. Staff may limit what they share by phone.

Court and Bail-Status Verification
Bail is set by the court, not by the jail. In most cases a magisterial district judge sets bail at the preliminary arraignment; it can later be reviewed by the Court of Common Pleas in Norristown.
Pennsylvania's UJS portal shows public dockets, including bail information in many cases. For questions about posting bail, the Clerk of Courts bail line is 610-278-3346.
Posting Bail at the Correctional Facility
The county says that if a defendant is held at MCCF, cash bail can be paid at the facility after hours, on weekends and on holidays. During business hours, bail is paid at the Clerk of Courts, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cash Only
Cash is the only form of payment accepted for in-person bail.
ID and Age
Bring a valid photo ID. You must be at least 18 to post bail.
Surety Responsibility
If you post for someone else, you are responsible for the full bail amount.
Wire Transfers
Can take one to two business days; the defendant is automatically listed as the surety.
County cash bail is not a commercial surety premium. No commercial estimate is shown while Center City’s Montgomery County authorization and commercial terms remain unconfirmed. Call the Clerk of Courts before traveling to confirm the court-ordered amount and payment requirements. Payment does not guarantee immediate release; holds and facility processing may delay or prevent release.

Release Conditions and Timing
The county does not publish guaranteed release times. Once bail is satisfied, the bail paperwork must reach the facility and be processed.
- Bail conditions set by the court (for example, no-contact or reporting requirements)
- Holds or detainers from another county, state, probation or immigration authority
- Other open cases or warrants
- Facility processing and count times
- Transportation arrangements after release
Visiting the Correctional Facility
Visitors placed on an inmate's visitors list must pre-register on Monday and Friday only, between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. A photo is taken, ID is checked, and the visitor receives a badge to show at every visit.
The county lists a one-time $5 badge fee, payable only in $5 bills, and an additional $5 for a lost badge. Pre-hearing and disciplinary segregation inmates do not receive visits. Visiting schedules and eligibility depend on housing assignments and institutional restrictions; registration does not guarantee a visit. Check the official county visiting schedule and confirm with the facility before traveling.
The Prison Board of Inspectors meets every second Thursday of the month, and there are no morning visiting sessions that day.
