Need Court or Custody Information?

This is temporary holding within the courthouse, operated through the Sheriff’s transportation/detention function for hearings. It is not an ordinary booking jail, an overnight detention facility, a public bail-payment location or a family-visitation facility. The main adult jail is Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The court or relevant county authority determines bail and release conditions. Use official contacts to verify custody and court information.

Purpose of Courthouse Holding

The county describes a 16-cell detention center on the courthouse Plaza level that can hold up to 100 people awaiting court hearings. The cells include accommodations for people with mental or physical disabilities, female detainees, and lawyer consultations.

Transportation from Correctional Facilities

The county says the division moves more than 13,000 defendants a year. Deputies run 34- and 24-passenger buses daily to and from the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and transport people to and from other counties, district courts and police departments when needed.

Court Appearances and Hearings

People in custody wait in the detention center until their case is called, then return to it after the hearing. If the judge changes bail or orders release, processing generally happens through the court and the Correctional Facility, not at the holding cells.
